Tis the Foggy Season

With the Beach Conditions we've had in the recent days it seemed like an appropriate time to talk about Sea Fog. Sea Fog occurs over the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, as well as the Gulf of Mexico. The fog happens when warm, moist air flows over colder water. Therefore, for our area in Florida this is the season when it can occur due to colder water in the Gulf. Sea Fog is prevalent all year on the West Coast where the Pacific Ocean is cold most of the year. On days we have an offshore wind the Fog will not be on the coast, but it could be out over the water. In this scenario there would be a potential for hazardous boating conditions. Fortunately for us it doesn't happen all that often. Hope you found this information helpful and interesting, thanks for reading and have a great day!
